Northwestern Uni develops catalyst converting plastics into fuels
Northwestern University scientists developed a nickel-based catalyst that converts hard-to-recycle plastics, including polyolefins, into fuels, oils, waxes, and candles. Working even with PVC contamination and eliminating costly sorting, this energy-efficient process could boost recycling rates, cut landfill waste, and transform previously 'unrecyclable' plastics into valuable products.
