Obama calls & offers help to Mamdani ahead of NYC mayoral polls
Ex-US President Barack Obama called New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani and told him that his election campaign has been "impressive to watch". Over a 30-minute phone call Obama also offered to be a "sounding board" if Mamdani wins the election. Mamdani's main opponents are former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who's running as an Independent, and Republican Curtis Sliwa.
