Odisha’s tribal craft Tumba gets a makeover
Artist Himanshu Shekhar Pandia has taken the traditional Tumba or gourd craft of Odisha's tribal people to buyers across India. For centuries, the tribals have used the dried hard shells of gourds to make storage containers. Now he trains tribal people in crafting contemporary and eco-friendly products like lamps, bowls and jewellery that sell for up to ₹33,000 a piece.
