Over 4.4 lakh Chikungunya cases reported in India in 2025: WHO
Over 4.4 lakh cases and 155 deaths were reported globally from January to September 2025, stated a WHO report. India reported 30,876 suspected and 1,741 confirmed cases, mainly in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. A global study warned that 51 lakh Indians could be at risk annually. Experts urge stronger surveillance, vector control, and public health preparedness.
