Over 8.82 lakh execution pleas pending in courts, SC raises alarm
The Supreme Court raised alarm over 8,82,578 execution petitions pending before courts nationwide, calling the backlog "highly disappointing". These pleas are filed by winning parties to enforce civil judgements against losing parties. "If it is going to take years and years to execute the decree, then it makes no sense and would be...a travesty of justice," SC noted.
