Pak police officer shot dead on 1st day of polio vaccination drive
A police officer travelling to guard polio vaccinators was shot dead on the first day of a nationwide vaccination drive in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said on Monday. "Two motorcycle riders opened fire on him," local police official Zarmat Khan said, adding, "The constable died instantly at the scene." Pakistan recorded at least 73 polio infections last year.
