Pakistan to chair UN Security Council's Taliban sanctions committee
Pakistan is set to chair United Nations Security Council's (UNSC) 1988 Taliban Sanctions Committee in 2025. It enforces measures like asset freezes, travel bans, and arms embargoes on individuals and entities linked to Taliban, which threaten peace and security in Afghanistan. Pakistan, that's known for sponsoring terrorism, will also serve as vice-Chair of UNSC Counter-Terrorism Committee.
