Papua New Guinea's Lae city hit with 6.6 magnitude earthquake
An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 struck near Papua New Guinea's second largest city Lae on October 7, said US' Geological Survey. The epicentre was 26 kilometres from Lae, which has a population of over 76,000. The "very violent" quake struck the city around 9 pm, said Malum Nalu, a government official.
