The RBI has granted an 'in-principle' authorisation to Paytm to operate as an Online Payment Aggregator under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, as per the company's exchange filings. This applies only to online payment aggregator operations, as defined under the Guidelines on Regulation of Payment Aggregators and Payment Gateways, the central bank stated.
