Pic of Buddha statues destroyed by Taliban seen in background at Afghan minister's press meet
A picture of the Buddha statues in Afghanistan's Bamiyan that were destroyed by Taliban in 2001 was seen in the background when Afghanistan minister Amir Khan Muttaqi addressed the media in Delhi. Muttaqi, a senior Taliban functionary, addressed the media at the Afghan embassy. Former Taliban chief Mullah Omar had ordered the destruction of the statues built in 6th century.
