Polls for next VP must be held as soon as possible: Constitution
After Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned as Vice President, his successor must be elected "as soon as possible" according to Article 68(2) of the Constitution. Until then, the Rajya Sabha deputy chairperson may perform his duties. As per Article 66, the Vice President is elected by members of both Houses of Parliament and must be an Indian citizen aged 35 or above.
