Portugal's 20-year-old defender Nuno Mendes broke down after getting injured in the first half of his team's 2022 FIFA World Cup Group H match against Uruguay. Mendes, who was playing his maiden FIFA World Cup match, was seen in tears while leaving the field after being substituted in the 42nd minute. He was replaced by Raphaël Guerreiro.
