Potholes claimed 2161 lives in 2023, not wearing seat belts 16,000
Potholes claimed 2,161 lives in 2023 while 16,025 people lost their lives in road accidents in the same year for not wearing seat belts, according to a report by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). A total number of 4,80,583 accidents were recorded during the year, claiming 1,72,890 lives and causing injuries to 4,62,825 persons.
