Punjab's Food Processing Department is exploring the possibility of securing a Geographical Indication (GI) tag for 'Amritsari Kulcha', a popular dish that originated from Amritsar. GI tag is given to products that have a unique quality, reputation, or characteristic due to their specific geographical origin. Punjab has two GI tags so far for phulkari embroidery and basmati rice.
