Researchers develop 'killer' cells that hide from immune system & destroy cancer
Researchers from MIT and Harvard Medical School have engineered a new cell, called CAR-NK (natural killer) cells, which can "hide" from the immune system and effectively destroy cancer cells. For this, the researchers removed the cells' surface proteins. "This enables us to do one-step engineering of CAR-NK cells that can avoid rejection by host," an author of the study said.
