Trauma is an overwhelming, unexpected threat that shakes our nervous system and sense of safety, explained Psychiatrist Dr Sarthak Dave. Afterward, hypervigilance keeps us on edge but draining, fuelling anxiety and fatigue, he added. Healing begins by restoring predictability and order, which rebuilds peace. As the mind regains a sense of control, it gradually gets out of fight-or-flight mode.
