Scientist turns fly ash land into bamboo forest in Maharashtra
Dr Lal Singh, Principal Scientist from CSIR-NEERI, turned 1,500 hectares of fly ash land near Maharashtra’s Nagpur into bamboo forest by planting over 5,00,000 bamboo saplings near Koradi Thermal Power Plant. His eco-rejuvenation model cut harmful dust levels by 90% and improved the lives of locals. Women from self-help groups also played key role in the project, launched in 2015-16.
