Scientists develop dwarf rice that could feed first lunar colony
The Moon-Rice project, led by Italian Space Agency, is engineering "super-dwarf" rice crop varieties that reach 10 cm in height, thrive in microgravity and boost astronaut nutrition. The project tries to achieve dwarfism by manipulating gibberellin (GA) hormone. Its results could support first sustainable lunar colony and enhance agriculture in extreme environments like polar regions and deserts.
