Scientists drill glacier in Tajikistan to study climate resistance
A team of international scientists drilled 105-metre ice cores on Tajikistan's Kon-Chukurbashi glacier to study why some Central Asian glaciers resist global warming. The cores, possibly preserving 25,000-30,000 years of climate data, will be analysed in labs and stored in Antarctica. Researchers hope this study sheds light on the "Karakoram anomaly" and future glacier survival.
