Scientists identify compound that mimics exercise's anti-ageing benefits
A team of Chinese scientists has found that long-term exercise can slow down ageing. Notably, the study also revealed that betaine, which is produced by the kidneys, can mimic the anti-ageing benefits of long-term exercise. This is because betaine "binds to and inhibits TANK-binding kinase 1 (TBK1), [thereby] retarding the kinetics of aging", as per the study.
