Shariah court sentences 2 men to 85 public beatings for having gay relations in Indonesia
An Islamic Shariah court in Indonesia's Aceh province has sentenced two men to 85 public canings for having gay relations. The men, aged 18 and 24, were reportedly caught in a state of undress while hugging each other in their rented room by neighbourhood vigilantes in November last year. "As Muslims...defendants should uphold...Shariah law that prevails in Aceh," judge said.
