Sonam dons ₹1-lakh handwoven saree with 16th-century origin
Actor Sonam Kapoor wore a ₹1.19-lakh worth handwoven Mashru silk saree by Ekaya Banaras for Karwa Chauth. Sonam completed her look by wearing some of her mother's jewellery. Notably, Mashru is a cotton and silk fabric that reportedly originated in 16th century, and was originally made for Muslim men to circumvent the prohibition against wearing pure silk under Islamic law.
