Soumya rape-murder convict serving life term arrested hours after escaping from Kerala jail
Govindachamy, who is serving a life sentence in the Soumya rape-murder case, was arrested from an abandoned plot just hours after escaping from a high-security cell at the central prison in Kerala’s Kannur on Friday. According to police, CCTV footage showed him escaping around 1 am. Govindachamy had raped and murdered a 23-year-old woman in 2011.
