Sri Lanka declares emergency, death toll rises to 132 amid floods
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has declared a state of public emergency after floods and landslides wreaked havoc in the country. Sri Lanka appealed for international assistance as death toll from heavy rains and floods triggered by Cyclone Ditwah rose to 132, with another 176 reported missing, Al Jazeera reported. Nearly 15,000 houses have been destroyed, displacing 44,000 people.
