Srinagar recorded -8.5⁰C, marking its coldest December night since 1974 as the 40-day Chillai-Kalan period of intense coldwave set in. This marks the third-lowest December temperature in Srinagar in 133 years. South Kashmir’s Shopian and Anantnag recorded even harsher temperatures at -10.4⁰C and -10.5⁰C respectively, while the minimum temperature at Pulwama settled at -10.3⁰C and -6.8⁰C in Kulgam.
