Stipend for girl students remains unpaid for 3 years in Pakistan
Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has virtually discontinued a stipend programme aimed at encouraging girls' school attendance as it failed to make payments over the past three years. Introduced in 2008, the programme provided PKR 200 to 6,00,000 girl students from Classes 6 to 10. Later, the amount was increased to PKR 500 but the government failed to release the funds.
