Stop auction of gems found with Lord Buddha's remains: India to Sotheby's
The Indian government has demanded a halt to the auction of ancient gems that were found buried with the remains of Lord Buddha. A legal notice has been sent to Sotheby's and Chris Peppe, a descendant of William Claxton Peppe, the British colonial who unearthed the relics in 1898. Government demanded that the gems be returned to India for safekeeping.
