Study links LGA births in type 2 diabetes to major pregnancy risks
A BMC Pregnancy & Childbirth study found that out of 691 pregnant women with type 2 diabetes, 37% delivered large-for-gestational-age infants, greatly increasing risks of postpartum hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia, hypoglycemia, and NICU admission. Higher BMI, PCOS, multiparity, excess weight gain, and high late-pregnancy HbA1c were major risk factors, stressing the need for tight metabolic control.
