Sub Lt Aastha Poonia becomes Navy's 1st woman fighter pilot, gets 'Wings of Gold'
Sub Lieutenant Aastha Poonia has become the first woman to be trained as a fighter pilot in the Indian Navy. She also received the prestigious 'Wings of Gold' from Rear Admiral Janak Bevli, Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Air). The Navy has women serving as pilots and officers but Sub Lt Poonia will be the first fighter pilot.
