Sugary drinks may accelerate spread of colorectal cancer: Study
A study by US researchers found that glucose-fructose combination in sugary drinks may accelerate the spread of advanced colorectal cancer. The sugar mix activates an enzyme called sorbitol dehydrogenase (SORD), which boosts glucose metabolism and triggers the cholesterol pathway, ultimately driving metastasis. The study suggested that targeting SORD could potentially help stop metastasis.
