Tariffs, shutdown drag US sentiment to four-year low, data shows
US consumer confidence stayed flat in November but remained at a four-year low, according to Numerator, as tariffs, a prolonged government shutdown and economic uncertainty weighed on households. Confidence fell to 53.9 from 56.2 a year earlier, and more consumers now say its difficult to find jobs. While non-essential spending sentiment improved slightly, budgets remain tight.
