Teen wins $25,000 for origami model that holds 10,000× its weight
New York's Miles Wu used Miura-ori origami fold, known for its strength, to design a disaster-relief structure. Testing showed with smaller, less-acute folds regular copy paper beat heavier materials. One of his designs held more than 10,000 times its own weight, earning him the top $25,000 prize at the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge.
