Three toad species defy evolution to give live births
A team of researchers has discovered three new species of toads in Tanzania that skip typical tadpole stage by giving birth to live toadlets. These species belong to genus Nectophrynoides, commonly known as 'Tree Toads'. Unlike most frogs and toads that lay eggs, female Tree Toads internally fertilise and carry offspring to full development, releasing tiny fully formed toads directly.
