Tsunami hits Japan after 8.8-magnitude earthquake off Russia’s coast, alerts issued for US
Tsunami waves hit Japan hours after an 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck Russia’s Kamchatka coast. Around 1-foot-high waves struck Hokkaido. The Japan Meteorological Agency had ordered evacuations in coastal areas & warned that tsunami waves would strike repeatedly. Earlier, tsunami waves also hit Russia near the epicentre of the earthquake. Meanwhile, alerts have been issued for the US West Coast.
