Upgrade or shut shop: Govt to drugmakers after cough syrup deaths
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has asked all the drug manufacturers to comply with global Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) by January 1, 2026 or face closure. The organisation's order targets 1,470 pharmaceutical manufacturing units with an annual turnover below ₹250 crore. Notably, this comes after cough syrup deaths in the country.
