US disqualifies 7,200 truck drivers for failing English test; Indian-origin drivers hit hard
More than 7,200 commercial truck drivers have been disqualified across the US this year after failing mandatory English proficiency tests. The move comes amid several accidents, including a deadly pileup on California highway involving an Indian truck driver. North American Punjabi Truckers Association estimates that 130,000-150,000 truck drivers work in US and many of them have been impacted.
