US to launch its costliest imaging satellite on rocket it tried to stop India from making
NASA and ISRO will be launching US' most-expensive ₹13,000-crore earth imaging satellite called NISAR, which will scan the Earth in 12 days, on board India's GSLV rocket. GSLV was developed in the 1990s using Russia's ready-made cryogenic engines. Despite attempting to directly acquire the engine's technology from Russia, India failed as US pressured Russia against sharing the technology.
