What are the rules regarding retired Chief Justices' accommodation?
As per Supreme Court Judges (Amendment) Rules, 2022, retired Chief Justices of India (CJIs) can retain Type VII government bungalow for six months post-retirement. It's one level below the designated Krishna Menon Marg residence of sitting CJI. In an exception, ex-CJI DY Chandrachud was allowed to stay at the property until April 2025. He's now been asked to vacate it.
