What is a top-up home loan and how much can you borrow?
Banks offer top-up loans to existing home loan customers who've paid EMIs on time for at least a year. Most lenders allow a total loan (original plus top-up) of up to 70-80% of property value. If a home is worth ₹1 crore and existing loan balance is ₹50 lakh, one could get a top-up of ₹20-30 lakh, depending on bank.
