The Great Nicobar Project, having an estimated cost of over ₹70,000 crore, plans to build a port, airport, power plant and township on the Great Nicobar Island, on the lines of Hong Kong. The island is situated near the Malacca Strait, a key trade route, and is expected to secure India's maritime interests. The project could generate ₹30,000 crore revenue/year.
