Sleep inertia refers to the grogginess, temporary disorientation and decline in performance and/or mood people feel after waking up. A person can use the RISE-UP method to deal with sleep inertia. The acronym stands for - resist the urge to hit the snooze button, increase activity in the first hour, shower, exposure to sunlight, upbeat music and phone a friend.
