Author Vijay Thakkar said choosing whole grains, like brown rice, jowar, bajra and oats over white rice and refined flour can help in lowering total cholesterol and stabilising blood sugar. Mustard oil, olive oil and groundnut oil can also contribute to heart-healthy diet. He suggested eating guava, pomegranate, papaya, spinach, tomatoes and bell peppers as they reduce cell damage.
