Which are India's poorest states/UTs?
Bihar is the poorest among large states/UTs with its relative per capita income 32.8% that of the national average in 2023-24, a report by Economic Advisory Council to the PM showed. Uttar Pradesh (50.8%), Jharkhand (57.2%), Assam (73.7%) and MP (77.4%) also have low relative per capita income. Manipur (66%) has the lowest relative per capita income among small states/UTs.
