Who is singer Maithili Thakur likely to contest Bihar polls?
Maithili Thakur, a folk and classical singer from Benipatti, Madhubani, was named Bihar’s ‘State Icon’ by the Election Commission. Trained in Hindustani classical music by her father and grandfather. In 2021, she received the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for preserving and promoting Bihar’s rich folk music heritage. She will reportedly contest Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.
