Why Nobel-winning scientist James Watson sold his medal?
American scientist James Watson who co-discovered DNA structure and won 1962 Nobel Prize had sold his medal in 2014 to Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov for $4.1 million. The medal's sale was prompted by retirement costs and rift with CSHL, over his comments suggesting that African intelligence was genetically inferior. Usmanov had said that he would return the medal to Watson.
