Woman takes charge to plant 1 mn trees across flood-prone Assam
Munmuni Payeng, daughter of India's 'Forest Man' Jadav Payeng, has taken up her father's legacy to plant one million native trees across flood-prone Assam. Through her organisation, Seuj Dhoroni, she rallies local communities, especially children, to restore biodiversity and create natural flood buffers. Aged 25, Munmuni is now fondly known by locals as the 'Forest Queen of Assam'.
