World surpasses its first climate tipping point
According to 'Global Tipping Points Report' released today, the world has surpassed its first climate tipping point. Warm-water coral reefs, on which nearly a billion people and a quarter of all marine life depend, have crossed their tipping point, it said. The study predicts that global average temperature will rise by 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels within the next few years.
