Xi urges Taiwan 'reunification' in message to new oppn leader
Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Cheng Li-wun on her election as leader of Taiwan's main opposition party, the Kuomintang (KMT), calling for renewed efforts toward "reunification" between Taiwan and China. Xi emphasised strengthening the common political foundation and promoting cooperation to advance national reunification. Notably, the KMT has long supported closer ties with Beijing.
