Keeping the air recirculation mode on for too long while driving can raise CO2 levels inside the car, as closed windows cause the same air to recirculate, according to Dr Anika Parrikar. Brain interprets the rise of CO2 as an oxygen shortage, leading to dizziness, headaches, confusion, and reduced alertness. This impaired alertness can significantly increase the risk of accidents.
