West Bengal government accepted Centre's new Waqf Amendment Act after refusing to implement it for months. It issued directions to upload information of 82,000 waqf properties across West Bengal on the central portal by December 5 deadline. This comes after CM Mamata Banerjee had publicly announced that she wouldn't allow the Act to come into force in West Bengal.
